Ons lichaam verpakt

speciale transportdeeltjes, lipoproteïnen. De drie meest bekende deeltjes
zijn VLDL, LDL en HDL. Met cholesterol wordt eigenlijk al het cholesterol
bedoeld dat verpakt zit in deze drie deeltjes. Als we een speciaal soort
cholesterol bedoelen, spreken we bijvoorbeeld over LDL-cholesterol of HDL-cholesterol.
Hetzelfde geldt voor triglyceriden. De lever neemt deze lipoproteïnen op
en maakt uit het cholesterol en triglyceriden andere lipoproteïnen, die
via het bloed verstuurd worden naar plaatsen in het lichaam waar vet nodig
